The Leslie Stephen Room is an attractive historic room located on the first floor overlooking Front Court with its beautiful Georgian façades. Recently refurbished with new oak flooring, discreet acoustic ceiling panels, refreshed soft furnishings and new furniture, the Leslie Stephen Room now offers an even more flexible space for drinks receptions and dinners.
The adjacent Chetwode Room, with its wood panelled walls and mahogany furniture, contrasts perfectly with the Leslie Stephen Room and is popular for pre-dinner drinks.

Historical information about the Leslie Stephen Room:
- This room is named after Sir Leslie Stephen (1832-1904), father of writer Virginia Woolf and artist Vanessa Bell who were both members of The Bloomsbury Group, an influential group of English writers, artists, intellectuals and philosophers.
- Sir Leslie Stephen studied for both his BA (1854) and MA (1857) at Trinity Hall. He went on to become a leading essayist in literary criticism and intellectual history and was the first editor of the Dictionary of National Biography.
- Sir Leslie is said to have inspired his daughter Virginia Woolf’s literary career as well as her love of the great outdoors.
